Hanoi, Nov 7 (RHC) A delegation of the Cuban National Assembly of People's Power (Parliament) led by its secretary, Homero Acosta, arrived today in this capital for a 5-day working visit to Vietnam.
The also Secretary of the Council of State and member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba is accompanied by the Deputy Chief of the Secretariat of the Legislative, Osmín Camejo, the Vice President of the Local Bodies Commission, Carlos Rafael Fuentes, and Omar Torres, from the International Relations Directorate.
According to the program of the visit, the Cuban delegation will hold official talks tomorrow with the Secretary-General and head of the Office of the Legislative Body, Bui Van, and a courtesy interview with leaders of the National Assembly of Vietnam.
On Wednesday morning they will return to the headquarters of the local Parliament to attend part of the debates corresponding to the fourth session of the 15th Legislature, which will last until November 15.
The Cuban deputies will travel on Thursday to Da Nang province and on Friday to Can Tho province, to conclude their stay on Saturday in southern Ho Chi Minh City.
During their stay in these territories, the island's parliamentarians will hold meetings with leaders of the Vietnam Communist Party Committees and tour some socio-economic centers of interest to them.
Last July, the Vice President of the National Assembly of Vietnam, Tran Thanh Man, delivered in Havana a donation consisting of 750 laptops, two servers, and two multifunctional printers to support the activities of the National Assembly of People's Power.
Meanwhile, last March, the presidents of the Cuban and Vietnamese legislatures, Esteban Lazo and Vuong Dinh Hue, held a fraternal virtual dialogue in which the excellent state of bilateral ties was confirmed.
Relations with Vietnam are a high priority for us and constitute an example and encouragement in our daily battle for the defense of sovereignty, independence, and economic development, said the head of the Cuban Parliament on the occasion.
Din Hue, exalted the high significance granted to the friendship with the Cuban people and reiterated that the visit of the historic leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro, to this country during the war will never be forgotten, as well as his phrase: "for Vietnam, we are ready to give even our blood".
