Russia reaffirms position against U.S. blockade of Cuba
Havana, Nov 7 (RHC) On Monday, Russia reaffirmed its position in favor of the rapid, complete and unconditional lifting of the economic, commercial, and financial blockade maintained by the United States (U.S.) against Cuba.
The Foreign Ministry of that Eurasian nation issued on Twitter a statement with its declaration of principles together with the Cuban people and the vast majority of the international community against that unilateral policy.
"The blockade against Cuba is a clear example of the viciousness of this pernicious policy, used by Washington to solve its problems against the opinion of the overwhelming majority of the world community," the text refers.
The document also denounces the inclusion of the island in the U.S. list of countries that allegedly sponsor terrorism, which creates obstacles for its foreign trade and financial transactions.
Russia recalled the results of the vote in the recently concluded 77th session of the UN General Assembly when the international community approved the resolution on the need to end the blockade with 185 votes in favor, two against (US and Israel), and two abstentions (Ukraine and Brazil).
The communiqué added that the vote reaffirmed the unanimous rejection of the international community to the restrictive policies of the US (Source: ACN).
