Havana, Nov 27 (Web Network) The Latin American multistate news channel TeleSUR reflects this Sunday on the front page of its Web site, the development of the elections of the Municipal Assemblies of People's Power in Cuba.
It comments that the day is going on normally, while the voting registers an important affluence almost three hours after the beginning of the local elections.
"As of 07H00 local time (13H00 GMT) the polling stations opened for Cubans to elect the representatives of the Municipal Assemblies of the People's Power, the main governing body at the local level", it adds.
TeleSUR reports that the president of the National Electoral Council (CEN), Alina Balseiro, reminded that 8,351,311 voters are exercising their right to vote in these elections.
Likewise, she informed that the spokesperson of the CEN, Denys Buedo Hidalgo stated that at the closing of 09H00 hours, 1 617 066 Cubans had exercised their right to vote, for a 19.36% of the electoral roll.

The multi-state channel added that the President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel went to his respective polling station together with his wife, Lis Cuesta Peraza, and after exercising his right to vote he had an exchange with the press.
A recent communiqué from the CEN explains that around 70 percent of the candidates are members of the Communist Party of Cuba or the Young Communist League, while 44 percent are women and 17 percent of the total are young people.
To be elected, a candidate must receive 50 percent plus one of the total votes and will exercise his mandate for five years in line with the transformations introduced in the 2019 Constitution.
