Cuban medical brigade arrives in Calabria
Havana, Dec 29 (RHC) Cuban Public Health Ministry sources confirmed today that a brigade of 50 Cuban doctors will work in Calabria, southern Italy.
The president of that region, Roberto Occhiuto, highlighted in his Facebook profile the arrival of the doctors in his country and indicated that they will help keep the wards and hospitals in the territory open.
"On January 2 they will start the course at the University of Calabria and as soon as they are ready, they will start working in hospitals," he stressed.
Occhiuto pointed out that Calabria seeks to guarantee all the tools at its disposal for the care of citizens, in the face of a health emergency.
In 2020, Cuban brigades of the Henry Reeve Medical Contingent assisted the regions of Crema and Turin, in Italy, during the confrontation of the Covid-19 pandemic.
For their outstanding work, the health personnel received multiple distinctions and were considered an example of the humanist principle of Cuban medicine.
