Cuba's Parliament publishes draft law on Social Communications

Havana, Jan 11 (RHC) On Wednesday, Cuba's National Assembly of People's Power (Parliament) published on its website the latest version of the Social Communication bill and enabled the e-mail comunicacion@anpp.gob.cu so that the population can participate in the legislative process corresponding to the proposal.

 

The bill will be submitted for analysis and discussion by the deputies in territorial meetings, from January 18 to 27, as indicated in the approved schedule for its presentation in the Assembly.

 

The legislative body announced that members of the Drafting Committee, deputies Martha del Carmen Mesa Valenciano and José Luis Toledo Santander, presidents of the Committees on Education, Science, Culture, Technology, and Environment, and Constitutional and Legal Affairs, respectively, as well as officials of the Legal Department will participate in the exchanges.

 

Also in attendance will be press media directors, provincial presidents of the Union of Journalists of Cuba, the Cuban Association of Social Communicators, and the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba; communication professors from universities, and members of the communication teams of the provincial governments and municipal assemblies of the People's Power.

 

The purpose of the projected Social Communication Law is to regulate the Social Communication System for the strategic and integrated management of social communication processes in the organizational, media, and community spheres, for political, public good, organizational and commercial purposes, both in physical and digital public spaces.

 

Likewise, it contemplates the freedom of the press recognized in the Constitution of the Republic of Cuba, and the principles of organization and operation for all social communication media in the country.

 

Its regulations apply to State bodies, entities, mass and social organizations, and other natural and legal persons, Cuban and foreign, residing permanently or temporarily or passing through the national territory. (Source: ACN)
