Havana, Feb 5 (RHC) The children's hospital Doctor Juan de la Cruz Martínez and Doctor Antonio María Béguez, in the city of Santiago de Cuba, received this Sunday a donation of powdered milk and medicines made by Puentes de Amor project and the Code Pink organization.
The load consists of two thousand pounds of this product and more than a hundred bottles of acetaminophen. The donation is part of the actions to help the Caribbean Island and eliminate the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the United States on Cuba.
According to Carlos Lazo, leader of Puentes de Amor, the gesture of solidarity is a grain of sand in a sea of needs, which contributes to benefit the lives of the infants admitted to the health centers, and is the result of the kindness and commitment of many people.
He also commented on the delivery of bread-making machines to some homes of children without family support, as part of the project for a Better World, an action that will be extended to other institutions of this type in the country.
Roberto Yis, a member of the solidarity group, affirmed the satisfaction of being able to help the Antillean nation and reiterated the commitment to bring together those who love and found, through daily actions and integrity, to mitigate the negative effects of the economic siege.

For her part, activist Medea Benjamín said she was ashamed of the U.S. government's policy of asphyxiation against Cuba as well as the campaign to defame the humanist work carried out by Cuban doctors in other parts of the world.
Héctor Mustelier, Director of International Relations of the Provincial Directorate of Public Health, thanked the donation and stressed the need to support friendship and the desire to always do good.
During the activity, Lazo and Benjamin were awarded the Merit for Humanism, Sensitivity, and Solidarity seal for their support and humanistic contribution to the sustainability of the sector's services in the southeastern territory (Source: ACN).
