Cuba awaits preliminary results of national elections
Havana, Mar 27 (RHC) Cuba is awaiting today the updated preliminary results of the national elections held the day before to elect the 470 deputies to the National Assembly of People's Power (Parliament).
The president of the National Electoral Council, Alina Balseiro, explained in a television appearance that by five in the afternoon this Sunday, five million 711 thousand 397 Cubans had exercised their right to vote.
The electoral authority added that this figure represented 70.34 percent of the electoral roll made up of eight million 120 thousand 72 voters.
She explained that the attendance at the polls in these elections was higher compared to previous votes with the same closing time. Compared to the Family Code Referendum, it is 1.71 percent higher and 6.49 percent more than in the municipal elections.
Polling stations throughout the country closed at 7:00 p.m. local time, 60 minutes later than expected, taking into account the high mobility of voters and the possibility of being able to vote outside the place of residence. (Source: Prensa Latina)
