UN Secretary General arrives in Cuba for the G77 and China Summit
Havana, Sept 14 (RHC) The Secretary General of the United Nations, António Guterres, arrived in Havana this Thursday to participate in the G77 and China Summit and fulfill a broad agenda that includes a meeting with the President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel.
The head of the UN was received by the head of the Ministry of Labor and Social Security (MTSS), Marta Elena Feitó, after his arrival at the José Martí international airport.
Guterres’s agenda in Cuba includes a meeting with the Cuban dignitary and other senior Cuban officials. He also plans to meet with the UN team in Cuba.
This Friday, during the opening ceremony of the G77 and China Summit, the Secretary General will call on member states of the broader group within the United Nations to defend a system based on equality.
The G-77 and China Summit will bring together representatives from more than a hundred countries in Havana on September 15 and 16, with the theme Current development challenges: Role of science, technology and innovation. (Source: PL)
