Havana, January 3 (RHC) Cuban president Miguel Díaz-Canel today strongly condemned the terrorist attack in the city of Kerman, Iran, during the ceremony for the fourth anniversary of the assassination of the general, Qassem Soleimani.

Through his account on X, he sent a message of solidarity to the Irani government and people, and condolences to the family of the victims.

Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez spoke in a similar way, expressing on the platform his strong condemnation of the attack that claimed the lives of at least 103 people and left hundreds injured.

According to press reports, the detonations occurred near the Kerman Martyrs Cemetery, where thousands of people went to remember the death of the senior officer, commander of the Quds Force of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps.

One of the explosions occurred 700 meters from the grave of the general, victim of a drone attack in Iraq in January 2020, carried out by the US air force.

The detonation dispersed those present at the commemoration and dozens of ambulances went to the cemetery, when another bomb was activated. Iranian authorities believe that the number of fatalities could increase.

Rahman Jalali, deputy governor of Kerman, confirmed that the two explosions on the outskirts of the city were related to terrorism. (Source: PL)
