Havana, Jan 10 (RHC) Abel Prieto, a Cuban writer, essayist and president of Casa de las Américas, has been honored with the prestigious Fernando Ortiz International Prize for his lifetime achievements.
The Foundation named after the Cuban sage took into account Prieto’s contributions to socio-cultural studies, linked to the Caribbean nation and Latin America.
The Fernando Ortiz International Prize is a prestigious award that recognizes the contributions of artists, scholars, and experts in the fields of social sciences, anthropology, and popular culture.
On December 27, Prieto was also awarded the title of Honorary Doctor in Social Sciences by the Hermanos Saíz University, located in the western Cuban province of Pinar del Río. (Source: Prensa Latina)
