Havana, December 23 (RHC-PL) -- The National Ballet of Cuba (BNC) will give a gala performance to mark the 56th Anniversary of the Revolution on January 1st with a combination of some of the main classics of the 19th century.

The anthology known by the title of The Magic of Dance, includes important moments of the choreographic art in Europe, where two styles dominated with their own characteristics: Romantic and Classic.

One of the historic divas of ballet, Cuban Alicia Alonso, conceived the presentation with her versions of scenes of essential works of world repertoire like Giselle, Swan Lake, Don Quixote, Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty and Coppelia.

The original pieces belong to the famous creators Jean Coralli, Jules Perrot, Arthur Saint-Leon, Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov, who gave ballet history these and other unavoidable titles.

The show ends with the Gottschalk Symphony, only piece of the 20th century, composed by Alonso which gives an air of Caribbean identity to the dance.

The BNC said the compilation shows respect and creativity of how the Cuban ballet school faces tradition.

The Avellaneda Hall of the National Theater will be venue to the performance that will not only be shown on January 1st, but also on January 3, 4 and 5, with casting headed by Viengsay Valdes, Anette Delgado, Dani Hernandez, Yanela Piñera, Amaya Rodriguez, Jose Losada, Sadaise Arencibia, Arian Molina and Grettel Morejon.
