How to contribute to the articulation, from the left, of a political project that has in the technology, not only a tool in an utilitarian sense, but also within a platform that develops a different kind of communication, a different resistance, was the key question that summoned the debate during the first panel of the International Conference “New Scenarios of Political Communications in the Digital Sphere.”

This working session, dedicated to the discussion around the political use of the information and communication technologies and their impact in the international relations, detailed the absence of a direct relation between the technology and the social progress and how not to understand the technological wellbeing as indicator of human quality and cultural development,

The panel was moderated by journalist and dean of the School of Communication of the University of Havana, Raul Garces Corra, and composed by José Alfredo Moreno Valero, Deputy Minister of People’s Power for Communications and Information of Venezuela; Carlos Amauri Venegas Chamorro, expert in Social Communication from Ecuador; Pedro Miguel, journalist at Mexico's “La Jornada”; and Ailyn Febles, deputy rector at the University of Information Sciences of Cuba.

The debate was focused on issues like technological sovereignty, use and impact of the ICTs in the political, economic, cultural and social processes of the countries; the monopolies and hegemony in the field of technology.
