The participation of Cuban businesspeople living abroad in the 39th Havana International Fair and of artists and writers of the same origin in a cultural festival in this capital, operates as a preamble to the Conference The Nation and Emigration.

Next weekend, Cuba will hold the fourth of these meetings, to dialogue and work, as stated in the slogan "Together for Cuba".

The aim is to work in favor of independence, full social justice and welfare for all Cubans, to which efforts those rooted outside the national borders can increasingly contribute.

Those who decide to travel to Havana for that purpose will get an update on the situation of the country, markedly difficult due to the lack of material goods and deterioration of services, essentially because of the U.S. blockade.

The nationals of Cuba wish to have more objective elements of these circumstances, which are often overestimated and even distorted by the press.

They will have the unique opportunity to talk to associations of Cubans about their efforts to help their homeland.

Conference attendees will learn how they can contribute to the political, economic, social and cultural life of their native country through investments and projects in municipalities.

Once again, the authorities of this Caribbean country will underline the local policy of facilitating travel abroad, the return, and giving those who decide to stay abroad the opportunity to join cooperation plans.

The forthcoming meeting in Havana will take place at a time when a diversity of nations where Cubans have settled down can be appreciated, hence the Conference will seek the greatest possible representativeness.

The authorities have made a notable effort to find more ways to exchange points of view with the Cuban nationals living in other latitudes.

All this, together with provisions in relation to passports and in other areas, show that Cuba is enjoying a magnificent moment in its relations with those established beyond the official limits.

There is no turning back on the path initiated with the dialogue in 1978, which has been uninterrupted until today and everything augurs as irreversible.

The fourth Conference on The Nation and Emigration will be held in Havana to discuss how to keep this relationship alive, despite the difficulties, and to stimulate ties with the new generations.
