The additional restrictions and unilateral sanctions derived from the labels of sponsors of terrorism assigned by the United States, create a paralyzing effect and their revocation is expected.

The above conclusion, among other relevant ones, does not emanate from the Cuban press but from UN experts.

Five of them recently urged Washington to review its internal order, because it triggers sanctions against the States included in the list.

This unilateral list includes Cuba, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Iran and Syria, which are subject to sanctions and other additional constraints to those applied to them.

Cuba suffers the reduction of foreign investments and the closing of doors to its banks.

Because, as the UN experts point out in a forceful document, the unilateral designation of countries which, according to Washington, sponsor terrorism, violates International Law and the prerogatives of the people as citizens.

Among these rights, the specialists of the global organization emphasize, are food, health, education, development and the right to life.

In fact, Cubans today suffer a deterioration in their standard of living, first of all because of the U.S. blockade.

To its harmful effect, then President Donald Trump added in 2021 the reincorporation of Cuba to the list of countries that, in his criteria, favor terrorism.

The determination was a nod to the Miami extremists and pulverized a previous step by former Head of State Barack Obama, who had removed Cuba from that arbitrary compilation.

Washington thus trampled on the principle of sovereign equality of States, the prohibition to intervene in their internal affairs and the postulate of peaceful settlement of international disputes, UN experts stressed.

One of Trump's arguments was Havana's rejection of Colombia's request for extradition of members of the National Liberation Army guerrillas participating in peace talks.

Cuba refused because it would violate established protocols as guarantor of peace talks. The current U.S. administration ignored an appeal by Colombian President Gustavo Petro to remove Cuba from the list of countries that, according to the U.S., protect terrorism.Cuba, despite suffering adversity for being included in the repudiatory relationship, reaffirms its support for the peace talks in Colombia.
