XII UJC Cuba Congress

"Create your future" is the slogan that will preside over the Twelfth Congress of the UJC, Union of Young Communists, which will open its doors next week in Havana and which has been preceded by months of fluid and dynamic debates of the youth throughout the national territory to continue advancing in the construction of a better country.

In work and educational centers, young people have expressed their concerns, but also their commitment to contribute from their position to make possible here the life project of each one.

The UJC, as its leadership has expressed, is called to be more attractive, representative and work to adequately channel the concerns of the new generations, in the midst of a complex economic panorama and media campaigns against Cuba.

It is vital to strengthen from the base the functioning of the organization, which must be at the height of the present times and in function not only of those who integrate its ranks, but of all the young people of the country.

Cuban President Miguel Díaz Canel has stated that the UJC must always be aware of dissatisfactions and complaints and act quickly to reverse them.

Therefore, greater effectiveness is sought in the attention and training of the youth, a purpose that will be in the attention of the participants in the Congress, who in recent days have held meetings with the authorities of their territories to be updated on the economic and social strategy that is being carried out.

They have also visited production and service centers in their provinces to learn more about the concerns of those they will represent at the event.

An important moment of the Congress will be the presentation and subsequent vote on the draft amendment to the regulations and by-laws of the Young Communist League of Cuba (Unión de Jóvenes Comunistas de Cuba).

The meeting will be attended by some 400 delegates and guests, representatives of the various spheres of socio-economic activity in the country.

This should be an event that marks a before and after in the actions of the youth organization that seeks to reach out to all, to build a country together, as stated by its first secretary Aylín Álvarez García, in which words such as prosperity, resilience and future fit.
