Eduardo Bolsonaro:  A close friend of Javier Milei

By Roberto Morejón

Exponents of the extreme right in Latin America take note with satisfaction of the attempt by the conservative Argentine president, Javier Milei, to surround himself with friends of the global extreme right.

Accustomed to traveling across borders since he has left six times since December, the ruling libertarian participated in a summit organized by the far-right Vox in Spain and exchanged affection with members of parties of that tendency from Italy and Germany.

Milei sees himself in the place he took from the ultra-conservative former president of Brazil Jair Bolsonaro, as the greatest example of the extreme right in Latin America.

An admirer of the United States, especially Donald Trump, and Israel, the leader of La Libertad Avanza is seen by South American politicians of the same line as a guarantee of refuge in case of getting into trouble.

This is what Brazilian legislator Eduardo Bolsonaro thinks, who acts as virtual chancellor of his father, former President Jair Bolsonaro, among the main people investigated for the attempted coup against Luiz Inacio Lula Da Silva on January 8, 2023.

It happens that in Brazil thousands of Bolsonaro supporters who rebelled against the national order by invading the headquarters of the three powers in Brasilia and requesting military intervention to overthrow Lula, elected at the polls, are being investigated.

Well, Eduardo Bolsonaro intervened in a hearing in the Argentine Congress and there he denounced what he described as “censorship” and “political persecution” of which, in his opinion, the opponents, that is, the coup plotters, would be victims.

In a word, Eduardo Bolsonaro wants asylum for his accomplices, 65 of whom are in Argentina and Uruguay after escaping from Brazil, where they are being investigated.

Eduardo Bolsonaro would be repaying Milei for the favor that he granted him when, traveling frequently to Buenos Aires, he gave his support to the then presidential candidate.

Subsequently, the son of Jair Bolsonaro, a legislator from the Liberal Party of Brazil, attended the inauguration of his close friend Javier Milei.

So one of the most notable members of the international club of friends of the most rancid right of the President of Argentina, he tries to take advantage of the latter's plans to become a regional reference for the extreme right.
