Unseemly visit to Eizeza

By Roberto Morejón (RHC)

It remains to be seen if the ultra-rightist president, Javier Milei, was aware of the unseemly visit made by the deputies of his party, La Libertad Avanza, to the repressors of the dictatorship in the Ezeiza prison, but in any case, the dialogue between the prisoners and the legislators was enough to hear angry voices.

Milei, busy organizing several trips and immersed in Venezuela's internal affairs, could have been left out.

If so, he will have to bear the weight of the importance of the trip of the libertarian deputies to a prison that holds prisoners who committed crimes against humanity, responsible for the disappearance of more than 30,000 people.

In Ezeiza prison, the libertarians met with executioners such as Alfredo Astiz, who is serving a life sentence and is known by the eloquent nickname "Angel of Death".

The pervert was sentenced for infiltrating the Mothers of Plaza de Mayo, as well as for disappearances and torture in the ESMA, which operated as the main secret detention and extermination center during the dictatorship in Argentina between 1976 and 1983.

Juan Manuel Cordero, who is serving 25 years in prison for crimes committed during the Condor Plan, was another guest invited by the kind visitors for a pleasant conversation.

It should be remembered that in the 70's and 80's of the last century, this operation sowed repression in order to cut down progressive governments in Latin America.

In addition to the other people who were received during the visit to Ezeiza, it is appropriate to remember that Milei and La Libertad Avanza belong to a sector of Argentines who, forgetting the past, relativize the crimes committed by the military or justify their actions.

Therefore, dialoguing with the repressors is not an isolated or even thoughtless act.

The participants of the "tour" tried to avoid the diffusion of the meeting that took place weeks ago, although a revealing photo and the statements of some deputies attracted the attention of everyone.

The fact that one of them insinuated that the meeting with those guilty of heinous crimes had the consent of the Casa Rosada, gives more implication to the transfer.

It is not for nothing that on the Independence Day of Argentina, last July 9th, Milei and the Vice President, Victoria Villarruel, marched with the Armed Forces and showed themselves on board of a tank.
