Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez traveled to New York City to participate in the high-level segment of the seventy-ninth session of the United Nations General Assembly, an opportunity to meet with Cubans living in the United States and continue to deepen existing ties.

The Fifth Meeting of Cubans Residing in the United States took place in a cordial and mutually respectful atmosphere, a necessary exchange to strengthen the unity of all Cubans, united by family values, traditions and love for their homeland.

It was an opportune moment to thank and highlight the support of their compatriots in the complex times that the country of their birth is experiencing, given the persistence and intensification of the U.S. blockade.

Cubans living in the United States are the protagonists of several projects through which they offer their valuable solidarity to the Caribbean nation.

Numerous donations of medicines, food and other supplies sent by Cubans and U.S. citizens, friends of Cuba, have reached health and educational centers, as well as homes for the elderly.

Invaluable is his constant denunciation on US soil of the damage caused by Washington's inhumane blockade of the Greater Antilles, which hinders its socio-economic development.

As well as his widespread participation on the last Sundays of each month in the caravans against the blockade, calling for an end to this unilateral measure that is widely rejected at the international level.

The current meeting in New York is part of the dialogue that Cuba maintains with its compatriots living in other parts of the world, to continue strengthening ties and building bridges, not barriers. Exactly one year ago, in an emotional meeting, also in New York, with Cubans living in the United States, Cuban President Miguel Diaz Canel expressed his satisfaction for sharing with those who love and preserve their feelings of respect, commitment and love for the country of their birth.
