Cuba and Vietnam have a long and historic relationship of friendship, which today is maintained at the highest level and is a benchmark of what relations between peoples should be.

Based on the characteristics of each country and its history, there is a fluid and sincere dialogue between the two nations, based on mutual respect and common interests.

Solidarity is a pillar of these relations, which have deepened, withstood the tests of time, and are highly valued by the authorities in Havana and Hanoi.

In this sense, the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President, To Lam, issued a statement before leaving for Cuba, in which he reaffirmed the importance his country attaches to the friendship and special solidarity with the Cuban Party, State and people.

Undoubtedly, the visit of the head of state of the Asian country to the Greater Antilles will give new impetus to the joint work in various fields and will make it possible to expand the existing exchanges.

Vietnam is Cuba's second commercial partner in the Asian continent and the first investor in our territory, an aspect that should continue to consolidate with new investments in other areas.

Both nations have signed a preferential trade agreement that has expanded the presence of Vietnamese products in our market and Cuban health products and other traditional products such as rum and tobacco in this Asian territory.

Vietnam's firm support and solidarity with Cuba has been manifested in its unwavering vote in the United Nations since 1992 in favor of lifting the blockade that the United States has maintained against the Cuban people for more than six decades.

In 2025, it will be 65 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Cuba and Vietnam, two countries willing to continue strengthening their alliance to work together for the benefit of their peoples.
