The reactivation of the construction of the border wall between the United States and Mexico did not come as a surprise, since President Donald Trump has shown that he is betting everything to impose his motto of America (in reference to the northern power) first.

In the handful of decrees, speeches, statements to the press and publications on his social network, the New York magnate shows himself in a frenzy, in his eagerness to fulfill what he promised, to deport millions of migrants.

The resumed works of the controversial wall, abandoned by the outgoing administration of Joseph Biden, emphasize the replacement of the old scaffolding with a higher one, as part of what the White House calls border protection.

Recall that the wall is essentially a continuum of concrete barriers and metal fencing at various points along the more than three thousand kilometers of border between the United States and Mexico.

With Trump's inauguration for his second non-continuous term, U.S. workers with heavy machinery have been seen installing the new structures and repairing deteriorated sections.

The resumption of the wall, even without the necessary resources, is part of the new administration's strategies to stem the flow of undocumented people, whom he refers to generically and without evidence as "bad people" or simply "criminals".

At the same time as claiming that this alternative will stop the flow of migrants, Trump is handing a big deal to several companies involved in the construction industry on a silver platter.

But above all, it exposes the vision of those who arrived at the White House with total contempt for the others south of the Rio Bravo.

There are reasons for the concern of many Latin Americans, especially Mexicans, and the wall is a key point.

Mexicans wonder if Friendship Park, on the border between Tijuana and San Diego, will be rendered useless as a meeting place for families separated by the border.

Moreover, they do not cease to reflect that, in addition to the wall, the Northern power deploys other alarming initiatives, such as the declaration of terrorist groups of drug trafficking cartels, the deportation of migrants and the application of onerous tariffs on Mexican products.
