Washington, May 11 (RHC)-- The city council of the District of Columbia in Washington passed a resolution recognizing the Cuban arts festival going on at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
Representatives of the DC city council personally delivered the resolution to the Cuban embassy in Washington.
The document describes the Cuban arts festival as an unprecedented event that shows the breadth and vitality of Cuban culture through the work of hundreds of artists living both on the island and abroad. It calls for continued cultural exchanges between Cuban and US artists and people.
The DC council resolution also notes that the Festival is coinciding with the 40th anniversary of the historic initial tour of prima ballerina assoluta Alicia Alonso and the National Ballet of Cuba in the United States.
