Havana, December 11 (RHC) -- Cuban painter and engraver Lesbia Vent Dumois was awarded the National Fine Arts Prize for 2019 in view of her extraordinary pictorial work. Upon analyzing the outstanding painter's artistic history, Cuba’s National Fine Arts Council has highlighted the values ​​of a creative work that talks to the past from evocation and nostalgia with careful execution and delicate lyricism.

Vent Dumois, one of the main references of Cuba’s contemporary engraving, is currently the President of the Fine Artists Association of the Cuban Artists and Writers Association, institution of which she was founder. When she was young, she studied painting, drawing, sculpture, lithography and pedagogy, and during her career she’s been part of the jury of important national and international events. Her work for decades in the Art Collection of the Havana based Casa de las Américas Cultural Institution has earned her deserved recognition, as well as her art promotion work. She has organized important visual art exhibitions and contests in Cuba and abroad, work that was recognized in 2000 with the National Curators Prize in its first edition.
