‘Tiempo muerto, cuarentena y surrealismo con objetos’ is the title of the latest exhibition by Cuban photographer Julio César García. It will be inaugurated online on Saturday, as an alternative to visualize the artist’s work in the context of necessary physical distancing due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The artist invites those interested in appreciating his art to either visit his Facebook page for a virtual tour or to contact him via WhatsApp. García added that at exactly 10 p.m. on Saturday, he will also present an audiovisual material, recorded from home, with photos he has taken over the past weeks of physical distancing.

Julio César García’s latest exhibition features the ready-made style, which refers to everyday objects selected and designated as art. The term readymade was first used by French artist Marcel Duchamp to describe the works of art he made from manufactured objects. It has since often been applied more generally to artworks by other artists made in this way.

A member of Cuba’s Hermanos Saiz Association and of Soho Photo Gallery of New York, Julio César García is the author of the multi award-winning photo exhibit ‘The kingdom of this world’, on display at Genesis Gallery in Matanzas province.
