Cuban singer-songwriter Raúl Torres has just released a new song entitled ‘Desbloquéame’ (Unblock me) -- a protest song against the US blockade on Cuba.
In statements to Cuban press, Raúl Torres said finding a new, fresh way to denounce Washington’s nearly six decade-old criminal policy toward Cuba wasn’t easy, given that it is an old issue, denounced by our people, including our artists, our friends, other governments, international organizations and goodwill people around the world in many different ways at every national and international forum.
Raúl Torres said he decided to mix new sounds with some Cuban rhythms, namely timba and mambo.
Torres is the author of unforgettable, Cuban patriotic songs, among them ‘El regreso del amigo’ dedicated to Venezuela leader Hugo Chavez upon his death or ‘Cabalgando con Fidel’ (Riding with Fidel) released just a few days after Revolution leader Fidel Castro's passing.
The renowned musician said the Cuban Foreign Ministry will add subtitles to the song and it will be part of a new international campaign against the US genocidal policy towards Cuba.
‘Desbloquéame’ (Unblock me) and its accompanying music video will be available on the main digital platforms, including the YouTube channel of the Cuban Ministry of Culture.
