Conga de los Hoyos

Havana, May 22 (RHC)-- On May 28th, Cuba’s record and musical editions company EGREM will release the latest album by La Conga de los Hoyos --one of the oldest carnival groups in Santiago de Cuba.

This latest musical production is entitled "La Conga de Cuba," because although there are many carnival groups in Santiago, La Conga de los Hoyos is by far the best-known in Cuba and around the world.

Founded in 1902. band members are exclusively from the Los Hoyos, a neighborhood in Santiago.

The band features over 50 percussionists and singers who play everything from car brake drums, hubcaps and frying pans to the distinctive Chinese trumpet – a sound unique to eastern Cuba’s carnival groups.
