Matanzas, June 6 (RHC)-- Cuban singer-songwriter Tony Ávila prepares the release of two new albums: ‘Universos’, under Bis Music label and Juan and Nelson Record label from the Dominican Republic and ‘A quién pueda interesar’, under Colibrí label.
‘Universos’ will include 15 tracks, all written by Avila himself, featuring different genres and as always, dealing with social issues –the everyday life in Cuba. One of the tracks is titled ‘Cubas’, he said and stressed that it’s about Cuban identity, its essence. Another track included in the album ‘Universos’ is like a second part of his guaracha hit ‘La Choza de Chicha y Chacho.’
The second album that Tony Avila plans to release later this year ‘A quien pueda interesar,’ is a tribute to Cárdenas, Matanzas, where the Havana-born artist has lived most of his life.
In statements to the press, Avila said he invited local friend artists, mostly amateur musicians though very talented. Also, his son Idiel Antonio Ávila, and his son’s girlfriend Jennifer Pino Horrego (who make up Dúo Cantares), are featured in ‘A quien pueda interesar.’
In February 2020, the author of ‘Mi casa.cu’ gave a concert at Havana’s Karl Marx –his last before the Covid-19 pandemic struck—to celebrate 10 years of artistic life with his band. For the occasion, he invited several friends, other equally renowned, highly acclaimed musicians like Omara Portuondo, Vania Borges, César López, Juan Kemell, Sampling, Ray Fernández and Kamancola.
