Reynier Mariño
Havana, August 3 (RHC)-- Cuban guitarist Reynier Mariño and the Havana rock band El Mundo de Sofía, led by singer and guitarist Sofía Guilarte, collaborate in a new single entitled “La Tempestad”, released on digital platforms in times of Covid-19.
Available on Spotify, Deezer, and on the band’s channel on Telegram, the single highlights the several common features uniting Cuban and Spanish cultures
Sofía said that “La Tempestad” is a metaphor to describe Cuban culture –a mix of different influences, marked by constant evolution.
Written and arranged by herself and bassist Víctor Manuel Ponce de León, the single has been well-received by the public and critics alike.
The leader of El Mundo de Sofía said they are now working on a music video for ‘La Tempestad’ with financial support from the Hermanos Saíz Association.
Formed in 2018, El Mundo de Sofía has delighted Havana audiences with their art, performing regularly at Submarino Amarillo, Maxim Rock and Café Cantante. The rock band has performed also at Cuba’s Cuerda Viva, Havana World Music and Jazz Plaza Festivals.
Meanwhile, Reynier Mariño has a solid artistic career spanning over two decades. He studied guitar at Cuba’s Higher Institute of the Arts and at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Madrid, Spain. Mariño is considered one of the greatest exponents of flamenco music and art in Cuba.
