Ballet de Camaguey
Camagüey, Feb. 11 (RC)-- Ballet de Camagüey is back on the stage this weekend with several performances on the company’s 55th anniversary.
The performances are dedicated also to Regina María Balaguer on her 25 years as director of the prestigious dance troupe, as well as to ballet teachers Lila Martínez de la Torre and Lila Corzo, who’ve been with the company for 45 and 30 years, respectively.
The program designed by the choreographer Norbe Risco, former dancer of the group and current artistic director of the Kentucky Ballet Theatre, includes five premieres and two new versions of classical and contemporary works.
During his appearance in Mi Camagüey streaming, the artist admitted that it is always a pleasure to return to his roots, as he feels motivated when working with young, talented and knowledge-hungry dancers.
“These boys and girls are fantastic; they work hard, which is vital because the essence of ballet is constant sacrifice, and therefore it is invigorating to help them in their growth as dancers,” he said.
