Still excited by the long-standing ovations and the German audiences’ admiration and love, the Lizt Alfonso Youth Ballet returned to Havana. Titled Children of Cuba; the show was staged in Hamburg’s Smichdt Theater.
In addition to their devotion and discipline on stage, following fifteen successful performances, the Lizt Alfonso Youth Ballet members got to know sites of interest and the German city’s cultural life, full of the joy and spontaneity that fascinated those who recognized them on their tours.
The emotions lived by the young dancers could be heard in the voice of the company’s director, Lizt Alfonso, in statements to Radio Havana Cuba: our children and young dancers conveyed their feelings and spiritual cleanliness, which makes it easier for them to communicate with the audience; when dance is involved it’s easier and people give a standing ovation. We must highlight a very special moment, the best of all, when the show was over, the public cried: Long live Cuba!, that’s the most important thing.
