Renowned Cuban singer-songwriter Pablo Milanés died Monday at the age of 79, after nine days of being hospitalized in Madrid, where he had lived since 2017.

Havana, November 22 (RHC)-- Renowned Cuban singer-songwriter Pablo Milanés died Monday at the age of 79, after nine days of being hospitalized in Madrid, where he had lived since 2017.

The artist was one of the most recognized voices in song.  Singer-songwriter founder of the Grupo de Experimentación Sonora del Instituto Cubano de Arte e Industria Cinematográficos and of the Nueva Trova movement along with Silvio Rodríguez and Noel Nicola.

Pablo's Artistic Office announced his passing on his social networks:

"With great sorrow and sadness, we regret to inform that the master Pablo Milanés passed away this early morning of November 22 in Madrid. We deeply appreciate all the expressions of affection and support, to all his family and friends, in these difficult times.  May he rest in the love and peace he has always transmitted.  He will remain eternally in our memory."

Last November 13, Pablo Milanés was hospitalized in Madrid, where he had been living since 2017 and receiving medical treatment for the oncohematological disease he had been suffering from for some years and which was aggravated in recent months.

His last presentation in Havana was in a concert in June 2022 at the Ciudad Deportiva, where hundreds of Cubans shared fragments of several of the songs he chose for that night.

Comienzo y final de una verde mañana, Ya ves, Yo no te pido, or Para vivir are part of Pablo's work that transcended ages and frontiers.
