José Antonio Chávez receives Cuba's National Dance Prize

Havana, April 30 (RHC)-- The National Council of Performing Arts (CNAE) revealed here today that the National Dance Award 2023 was granted to dancer, maître d' and choreographer of the Camagüey Ballet José Antonio Chávez Guetton.

In its official profile, the institution informed that the tribunal was presided over by dancer and teacher Aurora Bosch, and integrated by prestigious professionals Ismael Albelo, Johannes Garcia, Santiago Alfonso and Isabel Bustos.

The National Dance Prize is the highest award conferred by the CNAE for lifetime achievement.

It is granted to the most meritorious representatives of this art in Cuba for the whole of their work and who have achieved relevant results in dance.

Precisely today is International Dance Day, instituted by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization in 1982 to honor the birth of the master and creator of modern ballet Jean-Georges Noverre (1727-1810).     (Source: Prensa Latina)
