Havana, May 3 (RHC)-- The concert "Herencias Sonoras", performed by the Holguin Symphony Orchestra, marked the beginning of the World Festival of Artistic Youth, Romerías de Mayo, in this eastern Cuban city.

The show, conducted by maestro Oreste Saavedra, had as special guest the Swedish concert pianist Antipe Da Stella, who accompanied the Holguin orchestra in the execution of a program with the themes "Concert for flute in D Major" by Carl Reinecke; "Sombrero de tres picos" by Manuel Falla and "Tres danzas cubanas", by Alejandro García Caturla, among others.

This activity preceded the traditional parade of cars along Avenida de Los Libertadores to the Bosque de los Héroes, where at midnight the pre-Romerías concert took place, this time featuring Cuban singer-songwriter Frank Delgado.

On this first day, the program of the Romerías included the inauguration of the collective exhibition of photographs "Suerte de memoria" (Luck of memory), which gathers significant moments of the three decades of the Festival.

Until next May 8, the city of Holguin will again be adorned with the art of young nationals and foreigners, who this time participate in the edition dedicated to the 170th anniversary of the birth of Jose Marti and to the people and culture of Mexico.

During this week, the organizing committee of the event proposes a great variety of activities, including concerts, theater and dance presentations, exhibitions, lectures and the Congress of Thought Memoria Nuestra (Source: Prensa Latina). (Source: Prensa Latina)
