First edition of the Isla Verde Film Festival to be held in a special Cuban municipality

Havana, May 29 (RHC)-- From May 31st to June 5th, the Isla Verde International Film and Environment Festival of the Caribbean will be held in the special municipality of Isla de la Juventud.

The event seeks to make visible, dialogue and act. In its first edition, the Festival will be non-competitive and will be presided over by renowned actor, director and plastic artist Jorge Perugorría.

According to Periódico Victoria, Isla Verde will promote films, documentaries and short films that reflect on the impact of human beings on the planet, through works contributed by the Good Planet Foundation, Cinema Planeta and the international association Green Film Network, a network that brings together more than 30 environmental festivals around the world, according to the official note issued by the project's communications team.

Among the films to be premiered at the Cine Teatro Caribe, along with Isla de Plástico (2019), by Dominican director José María Cabral and La fábrica de las pandemias (2022), by French director Marie Monique Robin, are others like Legado, nuestro patrimonio (2021) and Home (2009), by Welsh filmmaker Yann Arthus-Bertrand, founder of Good Planet, to whom a retrospective of his work will be presented during the Isla Verde program.

The event will also include the exhibition of other materials produced in Cuba with the collaboration of the Antonio Núñez Jiménez Foundation and the Environmental Defense Fund.
