Santiago de Cuba, June 2 (RHC)-- Beginning Friday until Sunday, June 4th, Santiago de Cuba hosts the VI edition of the Hip Hop Festival "Palabras", dedicated to that genre as industry, culture and expression, and the fourth Congress of the Hermanos Saíz Association (AHS).
Rey Luis Correa, head of the AHS communications team in the territory, told ACN in an exclusive interview that the event is a favorable platform for the exchange of experiences and debate on the ideas, methods and forms used by artists to turn their work into a marketable product.
He said that with the passage of time Hip Hop has acquired new variants and forms of life, with the aim of adapting to the changes and demands of today's world, but without losing its essence.
Hip Hop in Cuba, beyond representing a way of expression or a lifestyle and favoring the awareness of its representatives, also becomes a competitive manifestation with the most diverse categories of the music industry, he said.
The agenda of the event includes, on this occasion, the lectures Rap, Reggae and something more in urban music today, by Ligia Lavielle Pulles, and How to mediatize conscious rap, by Xiomis Lidia Navarro and Carlos Luis Pena, as well as the presentation of the Urban Plus project, freestyle tournament and concerts by AKM Squad, Cdies, Yurango el Fango, Zeven, El Killer y el In2mito and Peregrino Sánchez, My Toska, Skecht Partidario, Irita la Negra and La Familia Vacana, among others.
A special moment will be the performance of the graffitty Diversas by the Undergraff project of Holguin province and visual artist Reydi Zamora, in addition to a book expo and poetry reading by writers Roberto Fournier, Lisbeth Lima, Margarita Morlot, Alejandro Mineto and Yoel Cipriano in the Hermanos Marañon community of El Caney village, in this southeastern territory, as a way of bringing urban culture closer to the people and integrating art manifestations.
The "Palabras" emerged in 2016 as a remake of the old Bonus Track festival and since then shifted its focus from the figure of the Disc Jockey to the urban creation of the rapper on the stage.
