Havana, September 18 (RHC) -- The artistic group Telón Abierto from the Máximo Gómez University, in the central province of Ciego de Avila, will represent our country next October at the Festikolk Festival, to be held in Panama.
According to the group's official Facebook page, they will present the shows Ángeles para una Tradición and Cubano Soy, with a sample of peasant roots and traditional folk dances of the Caribbean Island.
Telón Abierto is a folkloric group formed by students, workers and graduates of the University of Avila, created 25 years ago to preserve and rescue the native dances of the Cuban nation.
With a rich professional background within the Movimiento de Artistas Aficionados al Arte, national and international awards and recognitions, the group has shown its art in Spain, Portugal, France, Switzerland and Italy.
The founder and general director of the group, José Félix Rópeda, said that they owe their success to the constant improvement, research and study of each work they perform.
"Behind each show there is a historical-cultural research, which ends up being a scientific paper presented at events and competitions and is the basis for each of the dances," Rópeda said.
Festkolk will have its first edition from October 19 to 30 in Panama and will be attended by dance groups from Colombia, Spain, Mexico, Costa Rica, Cuba and the host country (Source: Prensa Latina).
