Hueca Fest gastronomic festival
Havana, Aug 10 (RHC) Cuba will be present this Saturday with samples of its gastronomy at the Hueca Fest festival, which is being held in Ecuador for the third year to promote the traditional flavors of this South American nation and its guests.
Desserts popular on the island, such as tartlets, as well as Havana Club rum, attracted dozens of people to the Caribbean country's stand.
Ecuadorian girls also gave a demonstration of typical Cuban dances, since Hueca Fest also serves as a space for artistic presentations and live music.
The president of the Hueca Gastronomic Association of Ecuador, Wilmer Morales, told Prensa Latina that the event promotes the unity of the continent with the participation of countries such as Cuba, Peru and Bolivia.
"The goal is for people to come and taste the flavors of other cultures, since they are part of our Latin American roots," said Morales, who is in charge of organizing the event.
He commented that during these days of Hueca Fest, those who come to Quito, at the center of the world, can taste national recipes prepared in the huecas (typical food restaurants), where dishes are made with products from the patio.
"This year, more than 150 entrepreneurs brought their proposals to the festival, which has been held since Thursday, August 8 and will conclude tomorrow at the Bicentennial Park, located in the north of the capital city, and has the support of the Mayor's Office of Quito and the Prefecture of Pichincha," he added.
A wide variety of typical dishes, such as hornados, fritadas, encebollado, ceviches and others based on pork, or seafood delicacies, captivate visitors, who with their presence support the reactivation of the economy of small gastronomic businesses. (Source: Prensa Latina)
