LIMA, Oct 16 (NNN-ANDINA) -- Peruvian singer-songwriter, Susana Baca, known as the voice of Afro-Peruvian music tradition, will perform in Havana as guest of honor of the Third Meeting of Popular Voices.
“I’m happy to share my music with Cuba and return to a country that I love as my own,” said the two-time Latin Grammy Award winner.
According to Cuban News Agency, Baca said she was happy to meet with Cuban artists and share her art with a demanding and expert public.
While speaking to local media in Havana, the Peruvian music representative expressed her appreciation for the support she has received by Cubans so far.
“Thank you for thinking about us and for inviting us,” she noted.
She will share the stage with Peru Jazz, group that creates, researches, and spreads Peruvian rhythms fused with contemporary jazz.
The gala concert will be held on October 18 at the Covarrubias Hall of Havana’s National Theater.
It is worth mentioning the Peruvian singer was recently awarded the Cubadisco 2013 International Prize for her album “La Misma Sangre,” recorded along with Ecuadorian Papa Roncon.
Furthermore, Cuban visual artists Nelson Dominguez and Eduardo Abela gave the Peruvian singer two original pieces as a token of the love Cubans have for her.
