Havana, November 7 (RHC-ACN)-- A squad of eight Cuban boxers will leave tomorrow for Europe, where they will hold a profitable tour in which they will face several of their best rivals of that continent.
In conversations held during the last World Boxing Championship, hosted by the German city of Hamburg, executives of that sport in Europe agreed with their Cuban counterparts to develop two matches between the European continent and the Caribbean island.
Cuba will attend the event with Olympic champions Julio César La Cruz (81 kg), Arlen Lopez (75) and Roniel Iglesias (69), as well as world monarchs Lazaro Alvarez (60) and Erislandy Savon (91), along with the global junior gold medalist Javier Ibañez (56) and Central American monarch Yoandry Toirac (+91).
Osley Iglesias (81) is also included in the list as back up for the four-time world champion Julio César La Cruz.
The first stop of the Cuban team will be Rotterdam, Holland, where they will undergo a training base prior to the first match.
Then, they will move to the Czech Republic to hold the second battle in Prague.
This tour will be the prelude to those eight boxers before the Cuban national tournament, to take place next month, and as training for the start of the 8th World Series of Boxing (WSB), which will begin on January 2018.
