Havana, (RHC) - Yadier Limonta will replace Ángel Cobas in the Cuban delegation that will attend the Costa Rican Taekwondo Pre-Olympic Games on the 11th and 12th of March.

"An injury to Cobas, an 80-kg athlete, causes the change in the quartet that will seek quotas for Cuba," said Ivan Fernandez, Seventh Dan and president of the Cuban Federation.

"Cobas was injured during the training base that an important group of our taekwondocas recently carried out in the Dominican Republic, something that is regrettable, but that is in the sport," he said.

Thus, Cobas, champion of the Toronto 2015 Pan American Games, will see the bulls from the barrier, although "his absence from the pre-Olympic does not invalidate him to go to Tokyo, because if he recovers, he could make the grade," he said.

His replacement was still training and was even in preparation bases in Mexico recently.

With much less experience than Cobas, Limonta will join double world champion Rafael Alba, weighing over 80 kilograms, and women Arlettys Acosta in -67 and Yamitzi Carbonell in +67, as Cuban representatives in Costa Rica.
