Havana, October 26 (RHC)-- Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel on Tuesday congratulated Cuban athlete Mijain Lopez, who received the Outstanding Performance award for his results at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
With a standing ovation, the Cuban athlete recently received, on the Greek island of Crete, the award given by the Association of National Olympic Committees, for his performance in the Japanese capital when he defeated Georgian Iakobi Kajaia 5-0 in the final a little more than two months ago.
After being recognized, the king of the Greco-Roman super heavyweight category in the editions of Beijing 2008, London 2012 and Rio de Janeiro 2016 said he is considering the possibility of continuing, because 'it is a very long road', which would end 'with 42 years and I think I should go big, not below'.
The XXV General Assembly of the Association of National Olympic Committees addressed the global Covid-19 pandemic and its effects on sport.
Delegates also heard the final report of the Tokyo 2020 Organizing Committee and presentations from those responsible for the Beijing 2022 winter and Paris 2024 summer Games.
