First Pan American Junior Games in Cali-Valle
Havana, November 26 (RHC)-- Cuba's leading figure in diving, Havana-born Anisley Garcia, won the first Antillean title at the First Pan American Junior Games in Cali-Valle, by winning the mixed team event along with Carlos Daniel Ramos, Luis Cañabate and Laidel Dominguez.
"Tuti", as the athlete from the Cerro municipality in Havana is nicknamed, told COCO through social networks that although they had worked to achieve a good performance, they did not expect this great result.
"We went out to enjoy the competition and everything happened, jump by jump until the final success," said the champion of the 10-meter platform at the Barranquilla 2018 Central American and Caribbean Games.
On the other hand, her mother, Iris Navarro, praised her daughter's qualities as an athlete and added that the gold medal achieved could be followed by others in the remaining three events where Anisley will compete: the one and three-meter (m) springboard, as well as the 10-meter platform.
The Cuban mixed diving team relegated the favorites Mexico and the United States to second and third place, in what was also the first crown awarded in the continental multisport event for young athletes.
