Antonio Maceo stadium receives FIFA certification to host international games
Santiago de Cuba, January 6 (RHC/JIT)-- The Antonio Maceo stadium in the city of Santiago de Cuba received on Wednesday the certificate that certifies it to host international matches.
The official document signed by Fifa president, Gianni Infantino, and issued in Zurich on Wednesday morning, states that the field installed there has been tested and certified according to the quality standards of the governing body of international soccer.
The news has been welcomed by the Cuban Football Association (AFC), which now has a remodeled stadium for international matches.
One of the AFC's longings is to have more facilities of such quality, said the head of the entity's development office, José Yulier Herranz, during the general assembly held last December.
"We intend that what was done in the Antonio Maceo is not a goal, but a starting point to gradually improve other stadiums in the country for the good of our soccer," said the head of Cuban soccer competitions to JIT.
The fact, undoubtedly, represents an excellent step and the fans will be grateful for it, being able to enjoy the performances of the different national teams.
