Havana, January 17 (RHC)-- The president of the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC), Ricardo Fraccari said Monday that he will return to Switzerland very optimistic about his visit to Cuba, which will end tomorrow, January 18th.

He said that the objective of opening the doors and providing support so that the Cuban federators can start the project for the sake of developing their baseball was accomplished.

"I have seen that the authorities of the Cuban Baseball Federation (FCB) are planning to implement a detailed plan to resume the competitive level that this sport has always had, as it is undeniable the potential it has with its talented young people," he said at a press conference at the 'Adolfo Luque' Hall of the Latin American Stadium in Havana.

The Italian executive explained that the exchange agenda between the WBSC and the FCB analyzed several topics, among which stand out the contracting of Cuban players in different foreign leagues, the development of baseball academies, the participation in international events and the very fashionable Baseball 5.

"Things don't change from one day to the next, but I appreciate the willingness of Cuban executives to carry out the plan satisfactorily," he said.

Fraccari stressed that "Cuba has to develop a legal plan so that its players, after intervening in the Cuban season, go to play in foreign leagues to improve their level. And the WBSC could be the linking bridge".

He added that the Caribbean nation is included in the WBSC's attempt to modernize and globalize baseball at the club level.

Regarding baseball's return to the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, the WBSC president said the vital thing will be to reduce the number of participants and the length of the games, which could be reduced to seven innings.
