Luis Enrique Zayas
Havana, February 7 (RHC/JIT)-- Cuban Luis Enrique Zayas continued to show his stability, jumping 2.30 meters at the indoor meeting in Hustopeche, Czech Republic, to place third.
Zayas, Pan American champion in Lima-2019 and fifth in the most recent world championships, missed 3 times over 2.34 trying to beat his Indoor personal record of 2.33 achieved 2 years ago.
With this record, he improved by 10 centimeters his result in his debut in the winter tour in Udine, Italy, last February 2.
The Cuban was quite close to the minimum mark required (2.34 m) to qualify for the World Indoor Championships, scheduled for Belgrade, Serbia, from March 18 to 20.
The winner in Czech territory was Sanghyeok Woo, from South Korea, with a personal best of 2.36 m, thus becoming the world leader in the high jump; while the American Ju Vaughn Harrison (2.32 m) finished in second place.
