Havana, May 12 (JIT) - The striker of the Cuban national soccer team, Marcel Hernández, reached 15 goals (leader) in the Clausura Tournament of the First Division of Costa Rica after converting two penalties on the penultimate date against Guanacasteca.
The Havana native reaffirmed his leadership in the scoring charts, now surpassing Santos Guápiles striker Jossimar Méndez (10) by five goals.
The two goals scored in the 25th and 32nd minutes proved vital in last night's 3-0 win for Cartaginés over Los Pamperos.
For their part, the Brumosos, with the help of the Cuban, secured a place in the semifinals of the competition, placing themselves among the top four in the standings with one match remaining.
Their opponent could be Heridiano, the defending champion of the tournament, who will be looking to regain the runner-up position in the standings, which they lost last night to Cartaginés.
With very little time left for the end of the tournament, everything seems to indicate that the Caribbean Lions' striker could win the goal scorer's trophy, another one for his meritorious career.
