Shainer Reginfo
Havana, June 8 (JIT) - Cubans preparing on European soil for the main commitments of the current athletic season achieved five first places and two second places in the Emilio Villagrasa Memorial, held in Valencia, Spain.
One of those who tasted success was sprinter Shainer Reginfo, this time in the 100 meters with a time of 10.11 seconds, equaling his personal best.
The world bronze medalist at the youth level had previously run 10.18 seconds in the semifinals.
For Reginfo, this was his third competition away from home this season, in which he already won the 100m in the recent Ibero-American competition and just three days ago he set a personal best of 20.51 seconds in the 200m in the Andújar meeting, also in Spain.
In the 200 meters for women, Cuba celebrated the 1-2 of Yunisleidys García (23.07 seconds) and Yarima García (23.82), the latter with a personal best.
With 6.37 meters, heptalonist Adriana Rodríguez dominated the long jump, while Lisneidy Veitía, a member of the 4x400 relay, world champion in Silesia 2021, won the 400 meters with 53.23 seconds.
The harvest of first places was completed by Daily Cooper, who ran the 800 meters in 2:03.62 minutes, while Leonardo Castillo came in second in the men's 400 meters with 46.56 seconds.
This Thursday, the focus shifts to the 800 meters, as Rose Mary Almanza was invited to the Golden Gala Pietro Mennea, in Rome, fifth stop of the Diamond League 2022 circuit, where the great favorite will be the Olympic champion Athing Mu, from the United States.
