Havana, November 10 (JIT) - Cuban Laina Perez won the silver medal in the 25-meter pistol at the Pan American Shooting Sport Championship of Lima 2022, in Peru.
She finished third in the qualifying stage with 572 points, which moved her to the match two ranking along with representatives of Mexico and Guatemala.
In this important phase, she led with 15 points and qualified for the final of four contenders, in which she was only surpassed by the American Katelyn Morgan Abeln (22). Behind her were Brazil's Ana Luiza Souza Lima (9) and Mexico's Esthela Vega Elba (6).
Sheyla González and Claudia Hernández, the other Cuban representatives in the event, finished 20th and 28th with 563 and 545 points, respectively.
In the 10-meter air rifle for mixed teams, the Cuban duos finished in sixth and 17th places in the preliminary phase, without access to the dispute for medals.
Dianelys Perez and Alexander Molerio placed best with 619 units, while Lisbet Hernandez and Rainier Quintanilla lagged behind with 611.13.
As for the women's 10-meter air rifle team, composed of Dianelys Perez, Lisbet Hernandez and Arneris Cabrera, lost today for bronze against Guatemala, with a 12x2 score. The United States took the crown of the event.
According to Arnaldo Rodríguez, national commissioner of sport shooting, Sheyla González qualified today for the Pan American Games of Santiago 2023 and now there are eight tickets obtained by Cuba in this competition.
