Havana, February 4 (RHC)-- The Cuban team Agricultores de Cuba lost this Friday 1-3 to the Tigres del Licey of the Dominican Republic, in the second day of the LXV Gran Caracas 2023 Caribbean Baseball Series, in a game played at the Jorge Luis García Carneiro stadium in the state of La Guaira.

The three runs of the Quintana Roo victory came in the third inning against starter and pinero backup Jonathan Carbó, who allowed two singles and gave away an equal number of tickets. This was compounded by an error by catcher Yosvani Alarcón.

Agricultores' relievers came through again, but in a losing cause due to poor offensive production. Kelbis Rodriguez pitched 4.1 episodes without allowing runs, and left-hander Miguel Paradelo imitated him in two innings.

The only run scored by Carlos Martí's team came in the fifth act against left-hander Domingo Robles, when Guillermo Avilés hit a jit and due to an error by the left fielder, he landed on the second pad, from where he scored on a biangular hit by torpedo Andrés de la Cruz.

Cuba put the tie in circulation at the end of the eighth inning, with men on first and second bases with no outs, mentor Martí ordered a sacrifice bunt to left-hander Raico Santos, who failed in the attempt.

The rest was taken care of by the fast right-handed reliever Jonathan Aro, who closed the port with a pair of consecutive strikeouts to brothers Yordanis and Yosvani Alarcón.

Today, the Agricultores will face the hosts Leones de Caracas, in their first game at the La Rinconada stadium in Caracas. It is worth mentioning that all the teams participating in the tournament have a 1-1 record, as the losers of the first game won in the second.
