Caracas, February 10 (PL) - The president of the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League (LVBP), Giuseppe Palmisano, said that teams from his country and Cuba could play inter-league games in the near future.

The executive pointed out that this was one of the topics discussed in recent exchanges with the president of the Cuban Sports Institute (Inder), Osvaldo Vento, and the head of the Cuban Federation of the discipline, Juan Reynaldo Pérez.

There was talk of holding inter-league games, which we saw with great enthusiasm, because the idea is that we take this to the international level, and that these sister leagues can be strengthened at the Caribbean level, he said.

With respect to the hiring of Cuban players to play in the LVBP, Palmisano explained that he was given the go-ahead to go and do scouting work on the island to begin to bring players, according to the needs of each team.

Regarding the organization of the 2023 Caribbean Baseball Series, he was very pleased.

We are quite happy because the objective has been achieved, which was to create an organization that would mark a before and after within the Confederation (of the Caribbean). It will serve to make our League grow, he assured.

In this regard, he confessed that at the beginning it seemed to be quite an uphill challenge, and it was difficult to convince even the Confederation that they were capable of organizing such a big event.

Finally, he hoped that the Simón Bolívar Monumental Stadium would not be abandoned after the regional tournament.

The stadium was ours only for the event, we hope that some team of the League can host there, so that all the clubs of the country can parade through that majestic facility, he stated.

We also aspire to bring Major League teams for preseason, he concluded.
