Two criteria from Cuba to the World Baseball Classic

Okinawa, Japan, February 15 (JIT) - The hitting coach of the Cuba baseball team, Orestes Kindelán, is convinced that "improving the hitting of the ball" becomes a priority in the current stage of preparation of the Cubans for the V World Baseball Classic.

"It is important because we know we are going to face quality pitchers and many resources," said Kindelán, the greatest home run hitter in Cuban baseball and Olympic and world champion.

"After that, the quality and strength of the connections will depend on the correct use of mechanics, within the technique of each player," he added.

That concept shades the rigorous sessions that, according to the former fourth bat of the national teams, have as a hallmark the harmony and the collective desire for things to go well.

Rafael Muñoz, also a strategist, said he was satisfied with the fulfillment of the objectives planned for the fitness segment.

"The tactical work and group actions have flowed well, in addition to the good use of the pitching machines, to hit fastballs and breaking pitches, which are fundamental tasks," he explained.

Cuba will hold on Friday its first extra-baseball game, scheduled against the second division team of the Nippon Ham Fighters, a franchise that recently hired the services of Ariel Martinez for the Japanese elite baseball.
